RHONY Star Heather Thomson Talks Sleep & CBD

Heather Thomson is an entrepreneur, reality star, podcast host, and integrative nutrition health coach. The former Real Housewives of New York star recently co-founded Beyond Fresh, a science-based, easy-to-follow approach to nutritional supplements. After writing about wellness and leading health retreats and wellness lectures for years, Thomson saw that there was a real need for clear answers and insights into aging, health, and supplements. The understanding she had around wellness and desire to help other women, inspired her to develop her brand.

In honor of National Sleep Awareness Month, we spoke to Heather about how she uses CBD, her best sleep tips, and what she is dreaming about. Thomson is a fan of CBD and its multitude of benefits, using the compound for recovery, overall balance and calm, and sleep.

How I Discovered CBD:

The first time I discovered CBD, I was climbing in Colorado doing training runs on a fourteener. My climbing partner who is also a physician’s assistant suggested trying CBD to counter the soreness that definitely comes with climbing.

Favorite Ways to Use CBD:

My go-to’s are topical CBD creams like Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics Natural CBD Sleep Cream to ease and soothe. I also rely on an oral CBD for balance and sleep. If I am having a crazy day, I find that CBD really helps to restore a sense of calm. I use it as part of my everyday evening ritual.

My Sleep Routine:

I set a diffuser with about 45 minutes before sleep, adding aromatherapy from calming essential oils in the room for about 15 minutes. Next, I take CBD nighttime drops for a soft entry into sleep.

My Best Sleep Tips:

About an hour before bed, the best thing you can do is power off. Put your phone in another room and focus on getting into a calm state of mind. Run a warm bath, put socks on, unclutter your bedroom.

What I'm dreaming of:

I am really prioritizing sleep lately making sure to get REM sleep. My dreams these days are about sorting things out and facing questions and conflicts. There is lots of good stuff happening for me this year and I am dreaming of how it will all work out.
