Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are natural compounds found in the cannabis and hemp plants that interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system. This system helps regulate key functions like mood, sleep, pain, and inflammation, making cannabinoids a powerful tool for supporting overall wellness.
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a network of receptors, enzymes, and endocannabinoids in your body that helps regulate key functions like mood, sleep, pain, and immune response. It works to maintain balance, or homeostasis, and interacts with cannabinoids like CBD to support overall wellness.
The entourage effect refers to the enhanced benefits that occur when cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds from the cannabis plant work together. This synergy can make full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD products more effective than CBD isolate alone.
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, accounting for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD is typically derived from the hemp plant, a close relative of marijuana, or it can be manufactured in a laboratory. This natural compound has gained popularity for its potential health benefits without the intoxicating effects associated with THC.
This powerful, non-psychoactive compound interacts with receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system (CB1, CB2, and TRPV1). By working with this system, CBD helps regulate key functions like stress, sleep, pain, and inflammation. Recognized for its versatility and effectiveness, CBD is a trusted choice for promoting balance, providing relief, and supporting overall wellness in daily life.
Unlike THC, the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis, CBD does not produce a “high.”
CBD is commonly used to support relaxation, ease discomfort, improve sleep, and promote overall balance and wellness. Its versatility makes it a popular choice for enhancing daily self-care routines.
Yes, CBD is generally considered safe for most people when used as directed. It is non-psychoactive and non-addictive. Our products are rigorously tested for quality, purity, and consistency to ensure they meet the highest safety standards. If you have any concerns or are taking medications, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before use.
The legality of CBD can vary depending on where you are. In the United States, CBD is legal in most parts of the country, but the regulations can differ from state to state. The FDA eased regulatory requirements for CBD research in 2015, and the 2018 Farm Bill made hemp legal across the United States, which in turn made it difficult to keep CBD illegal.
However, it’s important to note that while CBD itself is legal, the FDA has not approved the marketing and sale of CBD formulations for medical use or as an ingredient in dietary supplements or manufactured foods. Always check local laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
How often you use CBD depends on your needs and the product type. Many people use it daily, while others take it as needed. Start with the recommended dosage on the product label and adjust based on how your body responds. For personalized guidance, feel free to reach out to our team.
The effects of CBD can vary from person to person based on factors like height, weight, and the amount consumed. Since CBD doesn't produce a "high" like THC, you can't count on this feeling to know CBD is working. It’s best to start with a small dose and gradually increase until you achieve your desired results.
CBD will not make you high. It offers therapeutic benefits but is defined as "non-psychogentic"
CBD has been the subject of numerous studies for its potential health benefits. One of the most significant breakthroughs is its effectiveness in treating certain childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). Epidiolex, a cannabis-derived medicine, is the first FDA-approved medication for these conditions. Beyond epilepsy, CBD is also being studied for its potential to reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and alleviate chronic pain. Research is ongoing into its role in treating substance misuse disorders, certain types of cancers, and other health issues, making CBD a promising compound for various therapeutic applications.
No, CBD and hemp oil are not the same. CBD oil is extracted from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of the hemp plant, where cannabinoids like CBD are concentrated.
Hemp oil, or hemp seed oil, is made by cold-pressing hemp seeds and contains little to no CBD. While hemp oil is rich in nutrients like omega fatty acids, it doesn’t have the same therapeutic properties as CBD oil. Both are derived from the hemp plant but serve very different purposes.
Hemp refers to the entire plant, which is a variety of the cannabis plant grown specifically for its industrial and wellness uses. It contains over 100 cannabinoids, including CBD (cannabidiol).
CBD is a single, non-psychoactive compound extracted from hemp. While hemp can be used for a wide range of products like fibers, seeds, and oils, CBD is specifically valued for its interaction with the body’s endocannabinoid system to support balance, relief, and overall wellness.
- Cannabis is the overarching plant species that includes both hemp and marijuana. It contains over 100 cannabinoids, including CBD and THC.
- Hemp is a variety of cannabis grown for industrial and wellness uses. It has high levels of CBD and very low levels of THC (less than 0.3%), making it non-psychoactive.
- Marijuana is another variety of cannabis, but it has higher levels of THC, the psychoactive compound that causes a "high." It is primarily used for recreational or medicinal purposes.
In short, hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis, but they differ in THC content and usage.
Broad Spectrum CBD extract contains CBD along with other beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant, but it undergoes additional processing to remove all traces of THC. This makes it a great option for those who want the benefits of multiple hemp compounds without any THC, while still supporting the "entourage effect" for enhanced wellness.
Full Spectrum CBD extract contains CBD along with other naturally occurring compounds from the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and trace amounts of THC (within legal limits). These compounds work together in what’s known as the “entourage effect,” enhancing the potential benefits of CBD. Full Spectrum CBD is ideal for those seeking a more holistic approach to wellness.
While CBD is generally considered safe, it can cause some adverse effects in certain individuals. Common side effects include diarrhea, changes in appetite and weight, and fatigue. High doses of CBD may increase the levels of blood-thinning and other medications in your blood, similar to the effect grapefruit has with certain medicines. Additionally, people taking high doses of CBD may show abnormalities in liver-related blood tests. Since CBD is primarily marketed and sold as a supplement, not a medication, the FDA does not regulate the safety and purity of dietary supplements. Therefore, it’s crucial to consult your healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you are taking other medications.
CBD is available in various forms, including gummies, oils, tinctures, capsules, patches, vapes, and topical preparations. Topical CBD-infused oils, lotions, or creams may be effective for reducing inflammation and relieving muscle and joint pain. Further research is required to confirm CBD's potential. CBD patches, tinctures, or sprays designed to be placed under the tongue allow CBD to enter the bloodstream directly. While smoking CBD is not recommended, these other methods provide alternative ways to benefit from CBD. The optimal dosage of CBD varies depending on each individual and the condition being addressed.
It’s essential to discuss your use of CBD with your doctor or health professional to ensure it won’t affect any medications you take. They may also be able to advise on the best dosage for your needs.
CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD, containing only cannabidiol and no other cannabinoids, terpenes, or plant compounds. It’s completely THC-free. It does not offer any entourage effect.
- Major cannabinoids are the most abundant and well-known compounds found in the cannabis plant, such as CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). These cannabinoids are present in larger quantities and are often the primary focus of research and product formulations.
- Minor cannabinoids are found in smaller amounts but still play an important role in the plant's overall benefits. Examples include CBG (cannabigerol), CBN (cannabinol), and CBC (cannabichromene). While less prevalent, minor cannabinoids contribute to the "entourage effect," enhancing the overall effectiveness of cannabis products.
Both types work together to create a balanced and synergistic effect for wellness.
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is a major cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. It’s best known for its psychoactive effects, or the "high" sensation, but it also has potential therapeutic benefits for pain, appetite, and more.
CBN, or cannabinol, is a minor cannabinoid that forms as THC naturally breaks down over time. It’s often associated with calming properties and is commonly used in products designed to support relaxation and better sleep.
CBG, or cannabigerol, is a minor cannabinoid found in hemp and cannabis plants. Often called the “mother of all cannabinoids,” it serves as the precursor to other cannabinoids like CBD and THC. CBG is studied for its potential benefits in promoting balance, supporting focus, and providing relief.
Terpenes are natural aromatic compounds found in plants, including hemp and cannabis. They contribute to the plant’s scent and flavor while also offering potential wellness benefits. In cannabis, terpenes may work with cannabinoids to enhance their effects through the "entourage effect."
CBD is generally considered safe. Even at high doses, CBD is non-toxic and non-lethal. However, taking too much may cause mild side effects like drowsiness or an upset stomach. Always start with the recommended dosage and consult your healthcare provider if you have concerns.
